The ultrasound scan for a kidney is the same as the ultrasound scan done to see the baby of a pregnant lady. Instead of scanning the abdomen they are scanning your kidney.
Ultrasound scans are non invasive and can take anywhere between 5-10 minutes to complete. The technician will take measurements and photos of the scans and will send these to the doctor to review.
There are serval things they can identify with a ultrasound scan. This includes things like blockages, kidney stones, dilation, blood flow and swelling.
